Chairman & President

 

TRACY SEGAL

Known for her creativity and big heart, Tracy has leveraged her design acumen and organizational skills to create and execute special events for selected nonprofit organizations. As an avid advocate for progressive causes, Tracy has worked with political campaigns in fund-raising and hosting events for highly respected leaders, including President Barack Obama, Secretary John Kerry, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Governor Howard Dean, Senator Bob Casey, Rep. Mikie Sherrill (NY-11) and State Senator Alessandra Biaggi (NY-34). She has also served on a Federal Judicial Selection Board. Most recently, Tracy has been busy designing and managing the construction of homes for her family - and serving as Evan’s closest advisor in in different ventures. Tracy has always been an ardent proponent of female equality in all areas (legal, healthcare, business, political), encouraging innovative approaches to help women gain their rights and positions so often denied in a patriarchal world.

Prior to marrying Evan and having twin daughters, Tracy cooked professionally in various settings (Spring Mill Cafe, The Jefferson House, Cigna Corporate HQ) and worked in Retail Management across the country (Williams-Sonoma (Houston), Mondi Sportswear (Rodeo Drive/LA) and Ann Taylor (New York)). Tracy Attended Chatham College in its feminist heyday and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.


Evan Segal

Evan J. Segal is a business leader, philanthropist, angel investor, social entrepreneur, author and adjunct professor. He was the President/ Owner of Dormont Manufacturing Company, the inventor and world's largest manufacturer of flexible stainless steel gas appliance connector. After a successful exit, Mr. Segal served as the Chief Financial Officer at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Nominated by President Obama and confirmed unanimously by the United States Senate, Mr. Segal also served on The White House Innovation and Information Policy Task Force and was the Co-Chair of  the Federal CFO Council.

He currently serves as the Chairman of The Segal Family Foundation, President of Segal Ventures LP, Co-Founder of The 412 Venture Fund, Founder of Kiva Pittsburgh and Venture For America Pittsburgh and Co-Chair of the NYU Stern Graduate School of Business Leadership Fellows Program. He is also the author of "From Local To Global: Smart Management Lessons To Grow Your Business" and regularly speaks on Leadership and Management. Mr. Segal graduated from the CMU Tepper School of Business with a B.S. and a MBA.

 

Executive Director

Marla Werner

Marla Werner comes to The Segal Family Foundation with over 20 years of experience in marketing, communications, strategic growth planning, community partnership and development. Marla has worked with both non-profit organizations and for-profit businesses, creating sustainable growth strategies that empower organizations to reach their highest potential.  Marla also runs MPower Consulting LLC, a creative growth strategy agency, while holding the position of Executive Director of The Segal Family Foundation. Prior to her current positions, Marla has held director level positions at the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Morgantown and Pittsburgh.

 

Vice Presidents

Ariel Segal Eck

As Head of Insights at Foursquare, Ariel synthesizes first party location data into actionable consumer insights & strategies for brands, agencies and researchers. Prior to Foursquare, she worked in Product Marketing at  GoPro and lead client services at digital lifestyle publishers PureWow and  UrbanDaddy Inc. Ariel has an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business (Class of 2017) and a Bachelors degree in Marketing and Psychology from  The McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University  (Class of 2011).

Tess SEGAL De Paula

As a Growth Strategy Consultant, Tess empathetically empowers entrepreneurs and artists to articulate their vision, define specific goals, and make an actionable plan to get there. Previously, she was the Senior Manager of Growth Marketing at Soko Glam, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Andie Swimwear and a Senior Business Development and Marketing Strategist at Siegel+Gale. She has also worked at Lancome USA, Kiehl's and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Tess earned her MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business in 2015 and graduated from The George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in History (Class of 2011).

Christopher Eck

As an Account Executive at Google, Chris partners with leading brands like Lego, Under Armour, Puma and MasterCard to strategically grow their businesses with best-in-class technology and media solutions. Prior to Google, Chris worked in business development at NBC and management consulting at PWC. He also played professional Lacrosse on the Boston Canons for 7 years and on Team USA in 2017. Chris has an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business and a Bachelors degree in Economics from Colgate University.
