Grantmaking

At The Segal Family Foundation, we pride ourselves on our relationship-based approach to funding. Therefore, we do not have a formal grant application process. Instead, we much prefer to get to know you through one-on-one conversations about your organization’s background, core values, and funding priorities. This method allows us to form deeper connections with our potential partners, and lets organizations focus on their mission— rather than writing unique proposals for funders.

If you are considering reaching out, here are some general guidelines to keep in mind:

The Segal Family Foundation seeks to fund innovative programs that address Human Kindness and Social Justice. We encourage collaboration among non-profits, funders, and entrepreneurs for the betterment of the community.

Most of our gifts range from $5,000 to $30,000, and we often make grants to multiple organizations in a single cycle. We are deeply invested in forming long-term relationships with our partners and see ourselves as catalysts for bringing about additional connections, resources, and support to organizations. Our partners don’t just get a check -- they get US!

The Segal Family Foundation does not provide funds to:

  • non-501(c)(3) organizations

  • general operating support

  • capital campaigns

  • events or fundraisers

  • individuals

  • congregations or religious organizations for projects that primarily benefit their own members or for evangelical purposes

Exceptions may be made for programs that:

  • receive broad community support

  • keep separate financial statements

  • primarily benefit persons outside their congregational members

The Segal Family Foundation doesn’t do any grant requests, so you don’t have to be able to afford a grant writer or spend money and time on writing unique applications for them. They do relationship builds where they continue to trust the people that they work with to be good stewards of funding.
